As you must know by now, a massive fire has devastated the 6,000 people living in the town of Lac-Mégantic, Québec. The town centre has been demolished. You have undoubtedly seen for yourself the horrific images that have been broadcast around the world.
Needless to say, the community of Lac-Mégantic is reeling from this tragedy that struck a few short days ago. We can only express our deepest sadness at this turn of events and let the residents of the town and the business community know that our thoughts are with them.
We would like to acknowledge the efforts of the Chambre de commerce de la région de Mégantic and of its executive director, Isabelle Hallé, who, despite having close ties to many of those reported missing, has been a driving force behind the emergency operations.
We invite chambers of commerce from across Canada to show their generosity and support to the community of Lac-Mégantic by donating to the Red Cross.
If you are unable to make a donation at this time, a message of support and comfort to the chamber of commerce staff would certainly be appreciated:

The extended chamber of commerce family is well known for pulling together and reaching out to others in times of need. Tragically, this is one of those times. Please join us in showing your colleagues how much you care.
