Paris, October 7 2013 –Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, has been elected President of the B20 Coalition for a period of 2 years. Launched in 2012, the B20 Coalition is a group comprised of the most important voluntary national business organizations from G20 countries. Its main objective is to ensure business speaks with a common voice on current global economic issues.

“The objective of the B20 Coalition is to advocate policies at regional and international levels that contribute to global growth and job creation,” said Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian group accredited to the B20, and President of the B20 Coalition. “The B20 Coalition can use its vast membership base – representing more than 6.5 million businesses – to act as a global sounding board and an initiator of new ideas and proposals for G20 economic policy coordination and institutions of global economic governance.”

Supported by a secretariat in Paris, the B20 Coalition was created in April 2012. The Coalition is a permanent group whose purpose is to serve as a link between governments of G20 countries and the global business community.

Beatty added: “Over the last year, we have worked together to build a group that represents the interests of our national business communities while developing joint positions on a number of important issues. I look forward to continuing our work and welcoming new members at the table”.
