Yesterday, the Government of Canada announced it would join 11 other countries to sign the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement in early February.

This move allows the ratification process to begin, where countries will have two years to get the required approvals and put the agreement into effect.

We look forward to participating in the government’s consultations and helping policymakers understand the benefits it will have for Canada’s trade with the Asia-Pacific.

At a time when our economy is under severe pressure and our consumers are stretched, our export sector is more important than ever, and agreements like the TPP will make a real impact for Canadian companies.
