On the fifth and final day of policy wins we want to celebrate this year’s B7 Summit.
Canada hosted the G7 in 2018, which gave us the opportunity to host our international counterparts for the Business-7 Summit in Quebec City in April. The B7 was well attended by senior political representatives, included the Prime Minister, and Ministers of Finance, International Trade, Small Business, and Social Development.
The leaders of the B7 business federations issued a declaration to the G7 governments, containing 18 recommendations based on three broad themes: inclusive growth, resource efficiency and scaling up small business. These themes are rooted in a fundamental belief that the growth generated by freer trade provides the best tool to lift people out of poverty, create a bigger, more prosperous middle class and raise living standards for all.
Many of our recommendations from the B7 Summit were echoed in the communiqué issued at the conclusion of the G7 Leaders’ Summit in June. There is a strong and direct link between economic growth and prosperity for our countries’ populations, which is why we are pleased to see the G7 leaders support business priorities like inclusive growth.
