The Canadian Chamber of Commerce applauds the National Energy Board’s decision to recommend Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project for approval, deeming the project to be in the national interest.

“This expansion project will create important economic benefits for the communities along its path, but also for the entire country. Today’s decision takes us one step closer to being able to bring our responsibly-developed natural resources to lucrative world markets,” said the Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

The direct investment of $6.8 Billion for construction will result in the creation of jobs and foster economic growth in the region. This project will also generate important tax revenue for the municipalities impacted, as well as for the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.

“Kinder Morgan will have to work hard to meet the conditions set by the NEB, but we are confident they can put in the necessary effort and deliver on this important and positive project” added Mr. Beatty.
