OTTAWA, ON – February 27, 2020 – The Canadian Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating the career of renowned Canadian entrepreneur the Honourable Hal Jackman with the International Business Leader Lifetime Achievement Award, at the Ritz-Carleton Hotel in Toronto on September 17, 2020.

Established in 1992, the award recognizes a business executive from a Canadian organization whose visionary corporate leadership has allowed his or her company to develop a strong, competitive Canadian presence in global markets. Mr. Jackman’s achievements, throughout his long illustrated career, show he embodies these traits wholeheartedly.

“For a country that is dependent on international trade and investment, it is vital to recognize the achievements of Canadian businesses in the global business environment. Hal’s leadership as a business leader and commitment to building up Canadian businesses shows why he is such a fitting recipient of this award,” said the Honourable Perrin Beatty, PC, OC, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber. “We look forward to honouring Hal and his lifetime of business achievements and leadership in our community.”

Mr. Jackman spent his life building a financial services empire, including the National Trust Company and The Empire Life Insurance Company. Today, E-L Financial, remains one of the country’s largest investment and insurance holding companies. Along with his storied business career, Mr. Jackman has been a lifelong support of arts and education. He was the 25th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and served two terms as Chancellor of the University of Toronto, earning him the titles of Officer of the Order of Canada and Member of the Order of Ontario, as well as the recipient of 10 honorary doctorates.

The ceremony will not only feature our special guest, the Right Hon. Brian Mulroney, but will also include a performance by Juno Award winner and recipient of the prestigious Canada Council and Chalmers Performing Arts grant, Measha Brueggergosman.

Past recipients of the International Business Leader Lifetime Achievement Award include Allan R. Taylor, Peter Godsoe, Peter Munk, Wallace McCain and Frank Stronach.
